How To Improve a Business in the Midst of a Crisis

In most of our lifetimes, we haven’t experienced a crisis of this magnitude on a worldwide scale. Like never before, we need to work together to share ideas on how to navigate extremely uncertain circumstances. This website will become a resource for ideas and information shared by other companies and thought leaders for your consideration. You need to distill the ideas into prioritized plans that you put into action.

I have been doing some thinking about current world events, and believe we are living in a Stockdale Paradox moment in history.  We need to confront the brutal facts of our current situation so we can prepare for it and survive it, while holding onto the faith that we will ultimately prevail.  It is a paradox to hold strong negative views in one's mind while simultaneously holding strong belief that we will eventually overcome the current crisis.  But it is not only possible but it is necessary. The Stockdale Paradox suggests that we don't want to be optimists in this crisis.  It’s bad out there - devasting already for many companies and will be devastating to countless more as the ripples of the shock of our stalled economies emanate around the world. But the courage we show in our willingness to explore how bad it might get will give us the ability and clarity to survive it.  This crisis will eventually end and it's possible for it to change the world in good ways. Working together, we will overcome.

I have the privilege of being part of several coaching and small business communities. As I listen to ideas from coaches and business leaders from around the world, I am synthesizing what I hear and will try to organize the ideas to share with anyone who needs help. Click on the tab “Survive Then Thrive” to see my blog posts with notes on best practices and ideas to overcome the global pandemic and related shocks to our local and national economies.
