Similar Size Company Comparison Report

The Similar Sized Company Report compares your company to companies that have about the same number of team members to allow you assess your Culture-Engagement against teams of about your size. Generally, smaller teams have better scores, so if you are a large team, it’s better to compare your results against companies who have the same number of people.

To understand better the teams used for the comparison, look at the page header for the Comparison Company Size Between values toward the left hand side of the page. This will give you the range of company sizes used in the comparison.

On the right side of the header, you’ll also see the number of responses that were included in the Comparison Company responses. This will give you an idea of how many people’s opinions were included. Keep in mind that your company responses are not included in the Comparison Company responses.

HOW DO I USE THIS REPORT?

When evaluating any of these reports, take a deep breath and get yourself in a frame of mind that will allow you to listen and learn. If you find yourself getting emotional, stop, take a break, and come back to the report later. Try to find the truth of what your team is saying, and try to decide what you might be able to do to improve things. There are several key aspects to this report and some good questions to ask yourself or your team:

• Difference Column - use the color coded values to indicate where to focus:

  • Where are we significantly ahead of similar sized companies? What should we be proud of?

  • Where are we behind other companies of our size? Where do we need to improve?

• Min & Max Scores - these give you an idea of the best and worst scores amoung the teams in your comparison group. This gives you an idea of the range of results for each statement and where your team falls in that range.

  • How do we compare to other companies that are about our size?

  • Where do we want to focus energy to improve?

COLUMN DEFINITIONS 

• Our Company Score Average: The Score Average is the calculated average of all of the scores from the people on our team. The higher the number, the more people agreed with the statement. Average scores can range from a -10 (everyone strongly disagrees) to a 10 (everyone strongly agrees).

• Comparison Companies Score Average: The Score Average is the calculated average of all of the scores from the peopl on our team.

• Difference - The Differnce column subtracts Our Company Score Average from All Companies Score Average. It shows the delta between the average opinion of our team against the average of all other teams that have taken the survey. This shows how the opinions of your team differ from the opinions of many other teams who have taken this survey. This will show where your team is better, worse, or about the same as other companies.

• The Color coding in this column is designed to draw your attention to statements that had both significantly better and significantly worse than the All Company average as follows:

• Dark Green - 4 or more above average

• Light Green - between 2.0 and 4.0 points above average

• Yellow - between -2.0 and -4.0 points below average

• Red - average below -4.0 points

• Min Score - the Min Score reflects the lowest score that a team achieved on each statement. From statement to statement, you will see Min scores for different teams. The scores do not reflect the lowest score of one team. You will also notice that your Company Average Score might be lower than the Min Score - this is because your company is not included in the Companies for Comparison, and therefore you can have a score lower than the worst team in the group.

• Max Score - the Max Score reflects the highest score that a team achieved on each statement. From statement to statement, you will see Max scores for different teams. The scores do not reflect the lowest score of one team. You will also notice that your Company Average Score might be higher than the Max Score - this is because your company is not included in the Companies for Comparison, and therefore you can have a score higher than the best team in the group.
